We are changing things up a bit for our run on Sunday November 27, 2011. Dennis will host the run from his new place in Wakefield.
Directions to his place are:
Go north on H’way 5 to the very end. Make a left off 5 to the 105. Travel about 5 k to where a Giant Tiger can be seen on the left just before a set of lights. Take the right bend at the light – Valley Drive. Proceed to the three way stop at the end of Valley Dr, go right. We are the yellow house 4 houses up from the church on the right. 685 Riverside Road, Wakefield.
We will be running 20km.
The run on Nov 20 was very good. The temperature was a very pleasant 7 -9 degrees, although at times the winds were around 26km per hour. At our turn around point (at the beginning of the trails in Lake Lemay) it started to rain and luckily for us we were able to take shelter at the map kiosk. Continue reading
Sunday’s run was excellent. The weather was just perfect and quite unbelievable for this time of year. We can only hope that it continues. The distance ended up being just over 18km. Along the way we had a number of quick stops to take some cool pictures.
Last week there was talk of removing the Beaver as our national animal symbol and making it the polar bear instead. Well the Beaver Tail folks took issue and although originally were going to erect a 3 metre carving of a beaver on top of their restaurant, they opted instead of a picture of a beaver in lights – we have a great picture of this..

Through Run Ottawa (www.runottawa.com) I have started a Sunday Run group that currently meets at the Arboretum every Sunday morning at 8:00. Currently the runs are 20km and once Ottawa Marathon training begins the distance will increase.
I am using these Sunday runs as part of the Marathon I’ll be doing each Sunday beginning December 18, 2011.
Everyone is welcome to participate and even if the distance doesn’t quite match your training goals, you will always have the option to go shorter or farther. This is a great way to meet other fellow runners and while we won’t have specific pace groups set up, there is sure to be someone who is running at your pace.
The distance and the route will be posted weekly.
Hope you can come out and join us!
